As part of our Pop Art topic, we looked at who Andy Warhol was and some of his most famous creations. The class really liked Warhol’s two key questions:

What is art? 
Who is an artist?

They really liked the idea that art could be anything and anyone could be an artist! We then looked at making a self-portrait, focussing on developing the use of and control of shape and line as well as thinking of placement. Using photos on their IPADS they then finished them off with personal details and used watercolour to colour them in the style of Andy Warhol’s famous Marilyn painting.

Lots of Creative Chloes today! We were using chalk pastels to create Bonfire Night images. The results are fantastic!

Lots of Teamwork Tommy skills today! Class had to work in pairs or in threes to complete missing number sequences today by asking the two IMPORTANT QUESTIONS:

1) is it going forwards or backwards?
2) by how many? (How many jumps between each number).

This allowed them to identify the rule or the pattern and apply it to complete the missing numbers. Excellent teamwork, problem solving and counting skills. 

To coincide with COP26, P4/5 used questions to guide research. Last week, we used the internet and searched online. This week, as a class, we used different news clips to find the information we needed. We had to listen very carefully and discuss the clips with our buddies before taking notes to answer the research questions. 

The questions centred on who would be there, when the event takes place, where it takes place and why the event was taking place. We then looked at a key speaker from the opening ceremony and had to note down who he was and some of the points he was making. This information will be used later to inform our weekly newspaper.
