Today, we have started to learn about Earthquakes. We looked briefly at how they happen and will come back to this later. Today, we wanted to create our own seismographs so we could measure a table quake and talk about the causes. We watched a short film on how to make a seismograph and then used the materials in our group to make our own. It involved lots of Teamwork Tommy skills and problem solving! It was a bit tricky to start with but then they tried a few things and were making great progress! Will be able to finish them next time :)

A little while ago (just over 50 school days ago), P4/5 were discussing how important it was to keep their environment clean and tidy to help with their learning and their health and well-being. We struck a deal with our class cleaner who would leave us a green card if our classroom and cloakroom were tidy at the end of the day. Each green card would then give them five minutes of choosing time they could bank for the end of the week. Quite quickly, the children had pointed out that we had five green cards in a row and we discussed the achievement! They said they should make a target, so:
50 green cards = movie!!!! If they got a red card, they would have to start again. Thankfully they worked really hard and kept it going and we reached 50 cards at the beginning of this week. We are now celebrating our success and enjoying our reward! Next time, it will be 75 cards! We have been learning about Volcanoes this week. We had a great discussion about what happens and facts about volcanoes and then worked with a partner to build our own. There was lots of fun painting it on the Friday and we look forward to erupting them next week!
