I cannot quiet believe it is almost Christmas. It has been a fun week in class to see in the holidays. We started our week keeping to our routine as much as possible, taking part in PE, literacy and numeracy lessons as well as some Christmas crafts and fun. On Monday/Tuesday we made some amazing elf hats, these turned out great and the children really worked hard on their cutting skills to make them look extra amazing! We also enjoyed our Christmas lunch on Tuesday, thank you to the dinner ladies for a lovely lunch and the staff for helping to serve and clear our plates. We also made some slimey obleck on Monday for science. the boys and girls loved getting messy and playing in the gloop. We also explore dissolving by using candy canes and different temperatures of water. On Wednesday we watched a Christmas movie as a special treat for all our hard work over the term. Once again our elf was up to no good, eating sweets and making a mess. We are super excited for our party this afternoon, we will make sure we take lots of pictures to upload in the next blog! We will also get to enjoy our Christmas assembly, watching all the classes singing and see the teachers telling us a story. You can enjoy our song below on the embedded YouTube link. Thank you to all the parents for their continued support. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! From Miss Notman, Miss Wilson and Miss Scott!

Last week was another busy week in P2/3. In class we have been completing our writing on How to Trap a Troll. These pieces of writing came out amazing and I am so proud of how much the children managed to write and the high quality of what was written was outstanding.
in maths we have completed our block on time. Most of the children can successfully tell the time to o’clock, half past and quarter past in both analogue and digital clocks. We completed some amazing Christmas crafts this week including some lovely stained glass effect baubles, we also up cycled some old curtain rings into small wreath decorations. Our naughty elf was once again up to his old tricks in the class. Check out our pictures below! This week the class elf has been up to no good. He made a mess with the Lego and got stuck, took the star and baubles off our tree and took the ducks for a bath. We have continued to work on time in class looking at quarter past the hour this week. In literacy we explored the st and sp sounds at the beginning of words. We will look at st again at the end of words in the new year.
We have been enjoying reading the Christmasaurus and learning about the different characters. Ask you children who the naught, nasty girl is in the story. You could also ask them what is different about William and what he likes. On Friday we made some lovely Christmas cards, some of the children made these to give to mums, dads, granny’s etc… and some chose to give them to their friends. We have been practising our song for the Christmas assembly this week too. A video recording of this will be made available for you to watch. Star of the week this week was Jake for great work with Mrs Russel. Our Christmas party will be on Thursday 23rd December. children will also be bringing home some work this week that they have completed in class. This week we decorated the classroom for Christmas. However, since then a naughty elf has joined our class causing mischief. He left the jenga and dominoes in a mess all over Riley’s desk the other day. Hopefully he doesn’t make too much more mess….
In literacy we focused on the sm blend and in spelling on the ng word pattern. For writing we started to create new trap to trap the troll we think may be lurking in the woods. This weeks maths was focused around digital time. The children came up with a list of places you might find a digital clock including a microwave, cooker, phones, computers, tablets and smart watches. For our outdoor learning we collected some sticks to make some star decorations. They turned out lovely, some are not quite finished. Riley was this weeks star of the week for amazing work ethic in class, great listening and being polite and helpful. |
