In the run up to Halloween we have been busy once again. it was lovely to speak to parent this week in our parents evening phone calls. Lots of positives and achievements shared. In class this week we have continued to work on subtraction in maths, as well as skip counting in 2s and 5s. this week we have been learning and revising the sounds ai, ee and ou. Last week was Eu code week, but we were so busy we didn’t get a chance to do any coding. This week we made time to learn about what coding is. We learned that coding doesn’t always need to be done on a computer or device, it is about creating a sequence of instructions to move an object, that could be in a game or in person, digital or real. We used a game with robots to help up sequence our instructions and even used ourselves on a grid. The children really enjoyed taking part in the games, they had great ideas, sequences, team work and sense of direction. Check out our pictures below. As it is coming up to Halloween we used our colourful semantics in writing to create some spooky sentences. I was blown away at the creative sentences the children created, they were amazing! Together we came up with ideas for who?, doing?, what?, where?, when? That linked to Halloween the ideas were awesome! Check out our sentences and pictures below. We also played some Halloween games and decorated the classroom. We are looking forward to dressing up for some more Halloween fun! Can’t wait to see what everyone is wearing! Last weeks star of the week was Layton - he has worked so hard in all of his learning, been super helpful and listened tremendously! Keep up the hard work.
This weeks Star of the week will be revealed on Friday so will include this in next weeks blog. Hello everyone,
I hope we all enjoyed the holidays. This week we have been focusing on where and when in our colourful semantics writing. See our silly sentences below. Unfortunately they won’t all fit on the display but the children have worked really hard on these. Next week is Walk to School week, every child that takes part will be given a pencil and a sticker. Halloween is also fast approaching. September has gone by so fast, I cannot believe it is October already.
Last week was maths week Scotland. We did lots of maths activities in class as well as in our outdoor learning. We played naughts and crosses using sticks and stones, we kept tally marks of our scores. We practised ordering items by size and gathering different numbers of items. We have been busy doing some awesome artwork this week! We have a couple thing to finish off so will upload pictures at the end of the week. Jake was our star of the week this week for amazing effort and listening I all curricular areas. |
