Victorian Classrooms

P4/5 have been developing their understanding of an image as a source of evidence for finding out about the past. They had to read the image and find clues to discuss what these items may be and how they were used and understood the limitations of a picture in how much information it gives us. The images above are a back straightener, an abacus, ink bottle, finger stocks, writing set, chalkboard and a desk and chair set.
After finding out what some of them were and what a typical day at school may have been like, all the children have decided they are glad they go to school now and not then!
