Reviewed the Blue Strategies Cog today and children worked on creating a starter sharing card. They picked three emotions and then selected three strategies they could use for each. They were all very thoughtful and took time to really personalise this as they understand and respect that one strategy does not work for everyone or even for one person all the time.

Today, P4/5 reviewed the Behaviours Cog. We had a very thoughtful and productive discussion, using scenarios to think of emotion words and then sharing behaviours we or a person may feel like doing when experiencing that emotion. They then chose four to record their thoughts about out.
We finished off our 6 Cog Models today and the children all wrote what they think it means. Now we will start to look at each area to develop our understanding before trying this task again. It will be interesting to see how their thoughts will change.
P4/5 were introduced to the 6-Cog Model this week. The model supports discussion and learning about emotions and will be something we use in class. Over the next block, we will look at each part of the model and associated vocabulary to develop our understanding of this.
Enjoying some ERIC (everyone reading in class) time and then having an opportunity to develop those all important social skills :)
After finalising all the promises, everyone then worked in groups to design a display for our class charter. The only specification was that it had to be something everyone could fit on/in. There were amazing ideas- a mansion, a double decker bus, a party boat, an aeroplane and a house on wheels travelling along the road. Once designs were completed, we all voted on our favourite to be made into a display and the winning idea? The Party boat!
P4/5 have been looking at and discussing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) . We have discussed how they are all equally important and that everyone should be aware of the rights they have. The class then picked five that they would like to focus on for their Class Charter and have been working in groups to create pupil and adult promises to respect and promote these for everyone. Lots of thinking, sharing and good listening.
What a week! Everyone has settled back in really well and have been enjoying exploring their new room and getting to know each other. It has been lovely getting to know everyone and I am very much looking forward to the year ahead :)
