Thank you for all your patience so far since I have taken over. I have been having a great time in P1/2 and am so happy to be the teacher of this lovely class. 

Here are some pictures of things we have been doing since I have started. Expect more posts now I have worked out how to do it!

We have been doing various activities focusing on sharing, communicating and making do with what you have. Children have really enjoyed these activities as it enables them to have positive experiences with each other to help build relationships. Have a chat with your child and see if they remember what these activities were.

We have been getting lessons from Ms Roman who also performed with her band ‘Shooglenifty’ to the whole school, children were all dancing along with the music and it was a great time. 

We have had a role play set up as a sweet shop in class as we learn money. The children all had so much fun buying their sweets from ‘Perry’s Sweet Shop’. Thanks for your support bringing in the 10p.

Children had a great time making their potato plant bags, if anyone has had success with these please let us know!

We designed a monster then created it with junk.

We have been exploring a range of materials which we can use for junk modelling. We have learned about different types of materials such as cardboard, plastics and metal. We talked about recycling and reusing materials to help the environment. When exploring the materials we linked the learning with our previous 3D shape work  to stack and roll different shapes. 

We have recently starting learning about symmetrical patterns. We have experimented with paint by painting a pattern then folding the paper to print a symmetrical pattern on the other side of the paper. We have also explored symmetrical patterns using mirrors. 

On World Book Day we learned the story of The Three Little Pigs. We created pictures using 2D shapes, coloured in characters and then wrote the story for ourselves. 

We use a range of resources such as puzzles, activity boards and games to help us learn our number bonds.
