This week the P6’s went to Springwood Park and took part in the Inspire Learning Festival. We took part in different activities with our iPads and other digital equipment.
We didn’t get much time to finish the last activity but we enjoyed the day out and it was lovely to be on a school trip again.

This week on Thursday we had our school Sports Day. We did the egg and spoon race, sack race, sprint race and the last one was the long distance race.
It was a lovely hot day and there was ice cream on sale and also a raffle. We all had a great time taking part and enjoyed our day. This week we have been selling ice poles to raise money for the P7 fun week. It was a great success and all the people who bought an ice pole enjoyed it.
We had fun selling them too! On Thursdays until the end of term the P6’s go down to Nursery to play and help with the future P1’s. They are teaching them about good manners and respectful behaviour and being good roles models.

We looked at different changes that happen to our bodies and compared the changes between male and female.
Everyone was given a poster with ground rules for during our Sex Education sessions and all the children were really responsible and sensible when discussing this topic. This week we have been learning about Easter Traditions. We have been doing different Easter activities such as acrostic poems, researching the meanings behind Easter, Easter code cracking, art work and taste testing. The food we tried was hot cross buns and simnel cake, we really enjoyed them and have never tried simnel cake before. This week the Primary 6 children have been taking part in Bike Ability with Keith and Heather.
We had to get fitted with helmets, gloves and the correct size of bike. We then had to do something called a M check, this is where you need to check different parts of your bike to ensure it is ready for the road. some of the parts we had to check where the tyre pressure, the chain and the seat. Then we had to do different manoeuvres around the MUGA. Some of us were then able to go out onto the roads and use the different skills we had learned in the morning. We had such a great time and it was really fun. 😊🚲🚴🏼🚴🏼♀️ This week we have started using a new app on our iPads called Showbie. We will be using this a lot more from now on to complete work and to save paper.
Every school in the Scottish Borders will be using this app to submit homework and other pieces of learning. This week Mrs Dagg assigned us some tasks as a test to see how we got on and to find out how to use it and upload photos. After the February holiday we will be using this in class and at home a lot more. |
