This week we had a 'site visit' to the woodland area to measure the perimeter using some tools that an Architect might use. We learnt about jobs in Architecture and had a look at a plan of the school grounds.

P5/6 have made habitats for endangered animals. They had to research and consider what their chosen animal needed from their habitat and then build a habitat using resources in school. The class have then gone onto film documentaries in the style of Sir David Attenborough. We hope to share these soon.

World Book Day

As part of our activities for the day P5/6 spent time reading with P2/3. As a class we discussed how we would be successful at sharing a story with a younger pupil.

Before, during and after reading we asked the younger pupils some questions to help develop understanding of the stories.

Both classes enjoyed the session and it was great to hear the story telling voices from p5/6.

We had a burns supper and we had haggis neeps and tatties and we were listening to “Donald where’s yer trousers”. I really liked the haggis neeps and tatties but not everyone else did. During the supper we read some Robert Burns poems like “Red Red Rose”, “Selkirk Grace” and “Address to the Haggis”. We also read JK Annan’s “Street Talk.” We also learnt about Robert Burns and how he made his first poem at 15. And I think It was very good.

This week in art we created our own Miss Honey’s house. We all got a bit from the book and highlighted the descriptions of the house and garden. We could also look at images for draw things like the oak tree. We drew it in pencils and are using oil pastels to colour in so that we can shade and blend different colours. We have been working on this over the whole week. We have sometimes found it a bit tricky drawing it but we have kept going.

In maths we are focusing on our times tables, this week we have been looking at the 2 times table. We are hoping this helps us all to learn them. To do this we have been using games in our iPads called Times Table Rocks Stars and Numbots. Harley enjoyed Numbots best however Jessica really liked Rock Stars.

This week we did out door learning. We had a hunt and we found books on the trees and ground. We enjoyed this and we worked in partners for it.
This week we did GarageBand on the i Pads and we made music. Our teacher for GarageBand is called Mrs. Rowan and she comes in every week.
In Numeracy we learned how to use a multiplication square- it is really easy and fun.
Just now we do county dancing in the gym hall with Mrs. Thomson on Mondays and we pair up the people. We are doing this so we know dances for the Christmas party in December.

Remembrance Day
This week we learned about Remembrance Day which is on 11th November because that is the day the First World War ended. We wear poppies because they were the only flowers to grow after the battles. In art we made poppy designs, either in our iPads or on paper to make poppy wreaths. On Thursday with Mrs Angus we had 2 minutes of silence to remember. All the people that died in the wars.
P.E.
This week P.E. was with Mrs Thomson we had to collect balls for our team when there are no more balls left in the middle, then we stole each other’s balls to win and the team with the most balls won.
🙂
Outdoor Learning
Thursday with Mrs Angus  we went outside for outdoor learning and we got 10 or 5 minutes play then we made a big COP 26 with rock, leaves, tyres and sticks then we went back to class.

This weeks blog photos will be added at a later date, the internet at school has been down and the photos will be put up as soon as possible. Thank you to this weeks bloggers, Aiden and Lincoln.

This week in class we were making bloodshot eyeballs for Halloween decorations. We used black bits of paper for the pupil with oil pastels to add in eye colour and red pencil for the bloodshot. We also did Halloween art tutorials. My ones were poison and a skeleton coming out of a grave.

On Friday we all wore costumes, some were witches, skeletons and some were zombies. I wore a bush costume.
