Our Story of the Week this week was A Monsters Surprise. We listened to the story in class and sequenced the story picture into the correct order. On Thursday we made some monster masks, the children where too excited to take these home that We never got the chance to take any pictures of them.
Our emotion works focus this week was all about the yellow cog -triggers. We identified things that can make us feel happy, sad, angry and scared. Mr Aitkin continued this work with the class on Thursday using the story Grumpy Monkey and writing triggers for anger on bananas.

This week our story of the week was The Runaway Pea. During the week we listened and discussed the story. We made our own mini books to help us retell the story. On Thursday we made our own peas using paint, paper plates and cardboard.
In our class area we have created a nice calm corner, where children can go to practise using emotion works to regulate their emotions.
This week we looked at the story of Mr Jelly and his body sensations when he felt scared. We then created some of our own Mr Men and Little Miss character and discussed their different emotions. The week has gone by so quickly. We continue to work on Emotion Works in class. This week we read the story 'I Love You Blue Kangeroo'
We focused on the orange cog - emotion words. Naming Blue Kangeroo's feelings throughout the story. We also introduced our new emotion works calm space in our learning area. Thank you to all of you who came along to Meet the Teacher on Thursday. It was lovely to get the chance to speak to you all. |
