Vicky the Vet at Galedin Vets came in to visit Primary 1 on Friday, along with her Veterinary Nurse and the Receptionist. They brought along their cuddly friend, who we called Fluffy, and showed us how they check the animals who come in to see them. We saw lots of equipment, animal X-rays and they even read us a Hairy McLairy story - our favourite! Thank you Galedin Vets.

P1 have been busy baking gingerbread men with Miss Frankland. They measured out the ingredients, baked them in the oven and then decorated them once they had cooled. Only a few managed to make it out of the classroom at the end of the day without being nibbled!
We had a very special visitor in P1 last Friday - Alice’s dad James, also known as the sushi man! As he makes sushi for a living, he very kindly brought some in to share with us! He showed us all the ingredients, taught us how to make a few different kinds of sushi and then even let us taste some! Most children gave it a try, even if they didn’t think that they would like it. They also had a go at using chopsticks! We then got crafty and had a go at making our own sushi plates. What a fun Friday!
P1 had a ball visiting Gala Rugby Club down at Netherdale today. They had a tour of the club rooms, changing rooms, gym, stand and even got a little shot on the pitch!
We had our first visitor in P1 this week - Mrs Snedden’s adorable Shetland pony, Scoobie! The children were so respectful and followed instructions very carefully to make sure that Scoobie felt safe in our playground. They loved watching him wander around, giving him a pat and having a go at brushing him! We can’t wait until he comes back to see us again soon!
Our Story of the Week this week was The Disgusting Sandwich. During their outdoor learning time, P1 made their very own disgusting sandwiches using a mixture of old vegetables and yucky things they could find in the woodland area!
One of our new sounds this week is 'm'. We played monster splat, investigated the marble run, got busy in the mud kitchen and made our own masks whilst learning all about 'm'. Our Story of the Week is A Monster Surprise, so we designed out own monsters and made monsters out of playdough!
Primary 1 love playing and learning outside! We are so lucky to have a wonderful woodland area within our playground. We have been exploring nature, digging up potatoes planted earlier this year and we even made our own tyre swing! We look forward to lots more play and exciting learning opportunities in the woodland area throughout the course of the year.
