Our gluing station has recently been set up for the children to explore with sequins, tissue paper, glitter, buttons and lots more; the children have engaged well with this provocation making different varieties of baubles. One child used scissors to cut a piece of paper into a bauble. They used a developing grip while engaging in this process, this finished product along with the other children who chose to partake in this, were placed on the Christmas tree the children they showed a great sense of achievement when placing their completed bauble on the tree. One child said during the discussion about their baubles "we like that achieving" and pointed to the achieving well being indicator on the wall.
The gluing station provides opportunities to be creative, using the jars which are full of sequins etc; allows the children to develop their fine motor skills, problem solving skills and their hand grasp. One child asked a practitioner to hold one of the sequin jars "i not open" the practitioner held the jar and the child grasped the lid tightening their grip and turning they were then able to open the jar, they used a pincer grip to remove sequin's from the jar and attach them to the bauble. "i did open now i makes bauble pretty for tree".

Our Party  Day

Throughout the day the children continued to learn through play exploring the provocations in the room. They all had opportunities to join in with party games they chose what games they wanted to participate in suggestions the children made for games were " statues", "bumps", "statues again that freeze".
Santa came by and dropped off some presents for the children. Some of questions the children asked Santa were "Where is Rudolph?", "does Rudolph eat carrots?", "wheres your sleigh?" one of the children was a little shy so they had a nurturing hug throughout the time Santa visited. When he was leaving the children waved bye and said thank you to Santa.

While the children were dancing the blinds went down to make the disco light work effectively in the room this led to the children showing a interest in their shadows. The children were guessing who's shadow was who's, giving each other hi fives and requesting their friends to do different actions, such as "wave" and "turn around". The children's use of space and respecting their surroundings and each other was well observed, with children using our well being indicators vocabulary such as "don't pull it, it will break it", "please can I get passed" "you are not respecting me, I was here first" "we are all included". We will provide provocations in January to take this learning forward.

We hope you all have a great time during the holidays and we will see you all Next Year.
