On our return to ELC we have all been very busy. We began with focussing on the children's wellbeing, nurture, routines and revisiting our well being indictors. .
Story of the Week 7th March 2021
Our story of the week this week is the colour monster in this story the monster explores his feelings. Each feeling is linked to a colour, the children have started to use these in their conversations.
To extend the learning for the children, we will be putting out provocations in the Rainbow Room, linked to the feelings we have read about in the story e.g feeling spoons, sensory bottles linking to the colours/feelings. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Here are the monsters from the story and what feeling they represent - if you want to use these to talk with your child that would be fantastic to reinforce and link what they are learning at ELC to the Home.

Story of the Week 22nd February 2021
Our story of the week over the first two weeks has been dear zoo focusing on this story started conversations about our own pets at home, children can send in photos of their pets to carry this interest forward. Some children have already done this and we are really enjoying the conversations these photos are bringing.
The children are very proud of their pets.
one of the children has been showing a interest in planets. We found a video on YouTube about planets and space. Following on from this video the children talked about the different planets and they asked to make telescopes.
Following their interest we and taking a next step in their learning we went to the gluing and sticking station. The children used paper, Sellotape, small cups, lids, sequins lids from jars and glue to make their telescopes. One child had a good idea! They attached the small cup to the end of the telescope and told us that it was the telescope lense, which he had recalled from the YouTube video he watched.
outside we tied lanterns onto the gazebo the children used paint and paint brushes to paint these some children thought these looked like planets.
