Pupils have weekly spelling homework.
Each week pupils are given a list of words and should complete 3 activities at home to help them learn the words.
Below are the activities which pupils can choose from:
Rainbow spelling
Rainbow write your spelling words. Write each word first in pencil. Then trace over each word 3 times. Each time you trace you must use a different colour.
Alphabetical order
Write your spelling words in alphabetical order. Then try to write them in backwards ABC order!
Connect the dots
Write your spelling words in dots. Then connect the dots by tracing over them with a coloured pencil.
Squiggly spelling
Write your words in squiggly letters. Then write them in regular neat writing.
Ambidextrous
Swap your pen into the hand you don’t normally write with. Now try writing your spelling words with that hand. Next swap back to write them neatly with your normal writing hand.
Blue vowels
Write each of your spelling words. Trace over the vowels in each word with a blue coloured pencil. Vowels = a e I o u
Pyramid power
Sort your words into a list from easiest to hardest. Write the easiest word at the top of the page near the middle. Write the next easiest word twice underneath. Write the third easiest word three times underneath and so on.
Example:
                              Cat
                       Said   said
                   Little little little
Backwards words
Write your spelling words forwards and then backwards. Remember to write neatly.
Spelling scrabble
Write your spelling words neatly then write your words scrambled up. These are called anagrams.  Example: seaside   aisdees
Three times
Write each word 3 times. First write each word in pencil. Second write in a coloured pencil then third write each word neatly in pen.
