iPad, Glow, Teams help sheet
We will outline below some of the common issues found in iPads and Glow and Teams and how you can fix them yourselves or where to ask for help in fixing issues.
There have been a number of problems that have occurred over the last couple of weeks. The main one is to do with proxy settings and the Inspire Learning Team are working to fix this. Normal problem solving measures aren’t working. It is frustrating but please rest assured it is not just you that is having difficulties.
 
Class teachers emailed all parents/ carers last week. If you have not received this email, please check your emails and your email junk folders. This is the best way of keeping in touch with your child’s teacher and it is your child’s teacher who you should get in touch with first. If you think we might have the wrong email address for you please get in touch so we can update our records.
 
Locked out of Glow/ Teams:
  • Ask your child’s teacher for help with this. They can provide login details and reset passwords.
 
Not connecting to the internet/ safari taking too long to respond:
  • Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings > enter passcode
  • iPad will reset, shut down then start up again
 
Proxy Settings:
Settings > input username/ password- should look something like: cluster1jsmith118
password should be something like 2018
 
iPad locked due to incorrect passcode entry:
  • The iPad needs to be handed in to the school and we will ask for it to be reset. This may take a couple of days. This will only be possible for inspire learning iPads.
 
For apps such as sumdog, if your child cannot login, please contact your child’s teacher. It is the teacher who set up these accounts and will have access to details. If sumdog is not connecting try the ‘not connecting to the internet’ solution above.
 
Please install software updates when they are available
Please keep all login information in a safe place (inside the iPad case is usually the best) and keep a spare copy somewhere

Using the IPad to support  learning with visual difficulties

These files contain lots of useful information on how you can use the IPad in different ways. 
This includes how to enlarge text, change background colours or fonts, or to use voice over features. These features are useful for pupils with visual difficulties, as well as for pupils who use overlays or other practical resources in class.

IPad  Proxy Reset

This is a common problem which pupils are having on their IPad. If you are repeatedly asked for Proxy authentication then try this:
  1. Close Safari, double click home button and swipe Safari up to make sure it and any other applications are closed.
  2. Launch the "Settings" app on your iPad through the home screen.
  3. Scroll down the menu and select "Safari".
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of right hand panel and tap on "Advanced ".
  5. Tap on "Website Data" from the pop-up window.
  6. Tap on “Remove All Website Data”.
  7. Scroll down the menu and select "General".
  8. Scroll down to the bottom of right hand panel and tap on "Reset ".
  9. Tap on "Reset Network Settings" from the list of options (check that you choose this one!).
  10. Enter the iPad lock code and it will shut down and restart.
  11. Once the iPad has restarted login with your passcode, reconnect to the WiFi and start up Safari it will prompt for the proxy settings go to a website (BBC News Weather etc.). It may take multiple tries to apply the settings.
