Robot Story

We work on creative and imaginative writing throughout the year. Here is a great opportunity to use your work to enter a competition. The only stipulation is that is must be robot themed. Don’t forget to plan your story first and to use your Story Mountain to help your structure your paragraphs.
Planning Reminders:
  • Create a main character. You could draw them first, or create a character description or diagram. What is there name? How old are they? Is this character human, animal or robot? Who are their family? Friends?
  • Create your supporting characters. Answer the same questions as above, draw them, or create a diagram or description.
  • Set the scene. You could draw pictures of different scenes throughout the story so that when you write about that place you don’t forget to add lots of description.
  • Don’t forget to include a wide range of high level Vocabulary, Connectives, Openers and Punctuation. Remember to self assess your VCOP after each paragraph to think about whether it is good enough, needs uplevelled or whether you need to add more of something in the next paragraph.
Competition information:
Do you have the creativity to write a great robot story? We’re looking for exciting short stories featuring robots for a chance to win some fantastic prizes.
This is your chance you show off your creativity and take the readers on an adventure into the world of robotics and intelligent machines.
You’ll need to use your imagination to create believable characters and a compelling plot.
Your short story can feature any kind of robot you can dream up, and could take place on Earth, in space or even on another planet!
Think about whether your story is set in the present day, the future, or perhaps the past. What challenges will your characters face? How will the adventure end?
Once Upon a Robot is open to children aged between 7 and 11 years old.
