25/3/2020 - Writing and HWB  Poetry Competition!

20/9/2018

Based on our previous poetry work on Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes, pupils have been set the task to come up with their own poems using rhyming couplets.
Some pupils had already started to research food waste prior to school closing last week. The plan was to find out about food waste and use the research as inspiration to write a poem for this competition:

https://toogoodtogo.co.uk/en-gb/lp/b2c/too-good-to-go-food-waste-poem-competition?utm_source=toogoodtogo&utm_medium=direct&utm_campaign=b2c&utm_term=too-good-to-go-food-waste-poem-competition

Below are two activities which pupils can complete to gain a better understanding of food waste.
The first is to complete a diary of what food got wasted throughout the week.
The second is to consider how food could be used to create a second or different meal rather than be thrown away. For example, brown bananas are perfect for banana bread while roast chicken can be added to a vegetable curry to add protein.
This task also links in with the set HWB task to research healthy eating using the resource provided in the learning pack (and/or other sources).

The deadline for poetry entries is 7th May 2020.
