This week we have continued to learn about WW1. We have learnt about the countries involved in the war, why the war began and the trenches.
We have been doing some research to find more information about what life was like in the trenches to help us to write a letter from a soldiers point of view, which we will be writing in the next couple of weeks.
Some of the class where so enthusiastic about what they were learning they used their knowledge and creativeness to create a trench and dugout model in the woodland area. It was amazing to see everyone working together and communicating as a team.
During the week of remembrance we explored the reasons why this is an important day. We looked at how and why we remember all the soldiers who have caught and given up their lives to fight and protect our country. We created some poppy art to display on our classroom windows to show our appreciation. We learned the meaning and symbolism of the poppy.
as we enjoyed learning about the First World War we will continue to explore this topic further this term.
We also created some art work which will be used for the new school calendar, more information about this to follow.
It has been another busy week in P6/7. We have been learning all about bonfire night and Guy Fawkes, we created some art work using a variety of materials to show a fireworks scene.
On Friday we continued to be creative and made some dream catchers. The end results were brilliant, well done P6/7.
Reminder over the next 2 weeks you are invited to make a parents evening appointment through our online booking system. These will be 10 minute phone consultations as unfortunately it is not possible to carry out face to face meetings at the moment.

On Friday we had a fantastic spooky time at our Halloween morning. We took part in some games, decorated oranges, completed scratch art and were even given some awesome goodies from the parent council. We would all like to say a huge thank you to the parent council for our decorations, twister and other goodies. Our costumes were very spooky and we really got into the Halloween spirit by decorating the class and learning about the origins of Halloween and Halloween around the world. We had a brilliant morning.
Throughout the week we created some Halloween art. We made some Frankensteins inspired by Picasso and some haunted house pictures.
