Today we have been swimming in Galashiels Swimming Pool. One of the groups swam with and without the floats and played a game called Penguin. In Penguin we had to jump in and out of the pool and clap three times when the teacher called Penguin. The other group swam with noodles and swam to the rope and back. At the end we had some free time.
Last Thursday Alan and Andy came down to teach us about The Jungle Book. We did impressions, there were three signs with an actor line. We had to take the pose, for example, an angry man and read our lines. We also used facial expressions, we used poor S's face as she had a sore head from earlier. We enjoyed pretending to be our friend! Then we sang more of the Bare Necessities song. We started learning a new song with actions, it has been made especially for only the schools who are taking part in Disney Musicals for Kids. We are all very excited to hear about who is getting what characters this week. In maths we have been learning about fractions. Pizzas have helped us remember halves, quarters, thirds and fifths. We have been making our own fraction games and these have been created for us to play soon! In topic, we are learning about Scotland and the past. We have been learning Scots poems this week for our homework and will be reciting these in class next week. We have agreed on a criteria for the recitals and the whole class will pick someone to go through and read their poems to the rest of the school. They will hopefully go through to read this out for part of the Galashiels Area competition. Miss Wilson brought in wool and a drop spindle for us to try spinning our own wool. People used to make wool to create their own clothing in the past.
