P4/5 started their science IDL by looking at three different States of Matter. We role played atoms in a gas, a liquid and solid to support discussion about the properties of each. They then used this to sort different images into a solid, a liquid or a gas. There was a lot of confusion and good discussion around sand and sugar. Hopefully after the investigations, children will be able to say with confidence if sand/sugar is a solid or a liquid :)
Today, P4/5 reviewed the Behaviours Cog. We had a very thoughtful and productive discussion, using scenarios to think of emotion words and then sharing behaviours we or a person may feel like doing when experiencing that emotion. They then chose four to record their thoughts about out.
We have had a few stories brought in this week and children have read it to the class. Please keep bringing them in, or if you would like to bring in an item to share about, that’s great too :)
It was the second week of our dancing lessons today. They are all having lots of fun and the dance steps are really coming along :)
Everyone enjoyed making their spooky spiders for Halloween. Lots of creativity, problem solving and teamwork :) hope you all have a great Halloween!
Following on from a great discussion about the importance of a standard unit of measure, the children used rulers to measure the length of objects. When measuring out our first two, we talked about the importance of the placement of the object against the ruler to be accurate before recording their findings. After this, they gathered other objects, compared it to the two they already had to make an estimate of it’s length before measuring it to see how close they were.
