Literacy and English
Writing – Poetry – We are learning to create Acrostic Poems. Look at the PowerPoint on Teams. Using the word SCOTLAND, create your own acrostic poem. Making sure you take notes of ideas of words before you start. Please upload a photo of your finished poem on to Assignments on Teams.
Phonics/ Spelling – read your words with speed and then choose two activities from the spelling grid.
Reading – We are learning to give our opinion and explain why. Look at the sounds and words in the front cover of your book. Read through the book fully and complete Favourite part activity using information from the book remembering to explain why you like it.
Listening and Talking – We are learning to give our opinion. Watch Newsround and tell an adult your favourite and least favourite news feature.
Numeracy and Maths
Basic Maths – Play a game to revise your basic maths facts (see pack).
Sumdog – Play 10 minutes.
Numeracy (multiplication) – We are learning to count in 5s. / We are learning to use arrays for multiplication.
Health and Well-Being and Topic
Topic – Art and Design – The Great Tapestry of Scotland. Look at the GToS PowerPoint on Teams showing you images of the tapestry. Watch the video and look at the photos on BBC – The Making of the Great Tapestry of Scotland (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-23935135)
We are running a competition to design a square to be stitched up and included in the Welcome Panel of the GToS building. The theme is ‘Scotland in Lockdown’ (home learning, rainbows, etc). Begin to plan what you would like to include in your square.
