We used our prior knowledge of 2D and 3D shape to recognise a cone net. We all decorated our tree in our own ways and made sure to put the star on top!
For our STEM advent we were engineers and worked individually or in partners to design our own Santa sleigh. Our task was to build a sleigh out of Lego that would hold Santa and his presents. Here are some of the super examples from the class.
In groups we looked at snowflake patterns and found out that they are made of different shapes and are symmetrical. Our challenge for advent today was to create our own snowflakes using circles, triangles and squares, folding the paper to make them 3D.
On Wednesday we learnt about a process called Chromatography. We used one pen colour on our first experiment. Did you know that black ink separates in to blue, grey and orange!?! For our second experiment we added a number of colours to make great colourful designs. Our favourite bauble from the experiments were made into decorations that we can take home and put it up on the tree or in our rooms.
The class continued to be engineers in the middle of the week. We created our own gingerbread people to trap in traps that we planned, designed and made. We spoke about how they would trap the gingerbread person and how we could release them.....
On Thursday we continued to be engineers and created our own upside down Christmas trees. Some of us struggled with this task but changed materials and found out they worked out really well!!

From everyone in P3, we wish you a very merry Christmas.
