On Monday we wrote our own stories about a space adventure. We watched The Pink Panther for inspiration and came up with our own word bank to help us. Some of the words we used were; ............. spaceship, aliens, jet pack, planets, teleporting, robots, planets, trapped, saving the world, rescue, disguised, flying, craters, engine, meteors, villain...... We discussed Stir Up Sunday, a date in the diary to start making Christmas Puddings so they taste yummy for Christmas. Some of the class wanted to go home and ask their parents if they could make their own! Here are some calorie free collage puddings..... Some of the class wanted to share their work; we have been working on addition to 20, 50 or 100 this week, block graphs and mental maths. For Health and Well-being this week we read the book Odd Dog Out. We discussed that it was ok to be different from others in your class and what these differences could be (hair colour, height, skin colour, if good at maths or not...). We designed our own characters for the book. Like in the Look Up book (from book week), we discussed what we would take into space with us. We filled our rucksacks with ten things. During Creativity Friday last week we created clay diyas for Diwali. This week we painted them and hopefully they are being used with tea lights at home. In writing we have been looking at acrostic poems. As a class we decided we would pick Saturn for the topic of our poem. Here is our class poem and a photo of M’s creative work. Stars are far away. And Saturn is too. The sixth planet from the sun. Up in the sky you can see Saturn. Rings of rocks and ice. November you can see me clearly. With Miss Stirling this week we have been creating our own alien pictures. J wanted to show his picture of the class and his astronaut that he drew during Creativity Friday this week.
