In Maths this week we have been learning about Block Graphs. We know we had to look for a picture, count it and then colour in the blocks above the picture that we had counted. We found out it was very important to be neat when we are colouring in the blocks so that we show the data very clearly.
We have also started to look at Bar Charts and answered some questions about them as a class.
We read the book WOW! Animals, A Book of Extraordinary Facts that we received from the Scottish Book Week bags. We discussed our favourite animals from the book and drew them. We were fascinated by some of the facts from the books, we can't wait to share them at home!
As part of our Book Week pack the class have a set of Story Cards. This will help us pick characters and settings to make up our own stories at home. We used something similar in class to come up with the following ideas for our writing this week. We chose the following to pick from:
On Tuesday we used our listening and problem solving skills to make kites. We made a list of what we needed after watching a video on how to make them (paper, glue, scissors, strings, sticks) and collected the items from Miss Wilson. It was a really windy day on Tuesday so I think all of our kites worked!
On Wednesday, we were amazed after watching Space videos about solar flares. We found out that they can cause clouds that make our satellites in space stop working!! Here are some fantastic chalk drawings inspired by what we watched.
On Thursday, Miss Stirling taught us how to doodle. We created these colourful busy pictures.
K also wanted to show his picture of the Sun, Earth, Mars and Saturn.
