On Monday we took part in a dissolving candy cane experiment. We learnt about the risks of some science experiments and how important it is to be safe. We found out that hot water dissolves the candy cane quicker that when it is put in cold water. In maths we have continued to look at data handling and completed a Christmas inspired Carroll Diagram. Another STEM advent calendar challenge this week involved marbles! We took part in group work and designed and made our own Christmas mazes. A lot of good communication skills were shown and all of the mazes worked! In our space topic we looked at how rockets fly and discussed that fuel was one of the most important thing in rocket design. We were amazed about how much fuel and flames are involved in launching a rocket. On Newsround we found out this week that sometimes test launches do not work all the time!! Here are some examples of our rocket designs. We were engineers this week, designing and creating fortresses that would hide abominable snowmen from Miss Wilson’s snowball throws! All of them survived with some being stronger than others. We created Santa pictures this week with Miss Stirling. For our advent on Friday we used our problem solving skills to create Christmas trees with only seeing three different pictures of tree crafts. Here are our results. Some more photos of us enjoying our gifts from Langlee Primary Parent Council.
